About Us

Welcome to the Decatur First United Methodist Church website! Decatur First UMC is a vibrant faith community where members find love, acceptance, purpose, hope and friendship through the love of God and the salvation of Jesus Christ. We have made it our mission to share the gift of Jesus Christ to move hearts and employ hands for the Kingdom of God. Here at Decatur First, we live this mission each and every day, and I invite you to learn more about our church family.

We are a traditional United Methodist congregation that worships every Sunday morning at 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. For those seeking an alternative worship experience, we also offer a CAYA (Come As You Are) Service each Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. in our chapel. In addition to worship services, there are many ways to become involved in the life of our church. We offer a variety of Sunday School classes, Bible studies, small groups, drama ministries, service opportunities, and much more. All are welcome at Decatur First, and there’s something for everyone.

Decatur First offers wonderful ministries and activities for children and families. We have programs for young children (Children’s Morning Out and the Decatur First Preschool/Kindergarten) and school age children (Kids’ Rock! - a child-targeted, biblically based ministry for children grades K-5th grade), as well as a thriving youth ministry.

Lastly, the Decatur First congregation is committed to following the Bible’s instructions for combining faith and action. We minister to people within our congregation, our community, and around the world. There are many opportunities to serve Christ by serving others, and we invite you to explore these opportunities.
