John Bolen
From Honduras
to Appalachia
After a decade of going on the Honduras Mission Trip, John Bolen felt the pull to volunteer domestically and signed up as an adult leader for Decatur First UMC’s Appalachian Service Project (ASP).

Though John has been a member of Decatur First UMC for over 30 years, participating in the ASP trip has given him the opportunity to get to know better other members of the church, in particular the church’s youth.

John also is deeply moved by the outpouring of love and appreciation from the Appalachian families the ASP teams are able to help, as the teams work to make the families’ homes warmer, safer and drier.
