Rev. Joya L. Abrams currently serves as the Associate Pastor at Impact Church in East Point, Georgia. She is a provisional elder in the North Georgia Conference. She is an Atlanta native and graduate of The Westminster Schools, Spelman College (BS), Georgia Institute of Technology (BS – Industrial Engineering) and the Candler School of Theology at Emory University (Master of Divinity). Joya is a second career clergywoman and worked as an Industrial Engineer before answering her call to ministry in 2010. Her first pastoral appointment was as pastor in charge at Tenth Street Underwood Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta. She has a passion for helping people think through how their faith is in action in their lives. Recently she served as preacher and teacher at the Conference Winter Confirmation Retreat, Children’s Retreat and as Theologian in Residence at Camp Glisson. She and her husband, Nate, will soon celebrate 14 years of marriage and they are the parents of two sons, Bennett and Christopher, and a dog, Katie.
