UMCOR Health Kits for Haiti

Decatur First’s Mission Action Team is calling the congregation to assist in the collection of items for UMCOR Health Kits for the people of Haiti. Items will be collected during the month of February. The United Methodist Youth Fellowship will be assembling as many health kits as possible during the month. Kits will then be delivered to the UMCOR warehouse for distribution in Haiti and throughout the world.

Only new items of the specified size can be used.

Please follow this list closely:

hand towels (15” x 25” up to 17” x 27”, no kitchen towels)
washcloths
combs (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
nail files or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages

Bring your items to the church and place them in the boxes marked Haiti Health Kits. Boxes are available at the rear parking lot entrance on the first floor and near the church office reception area.

No bars of soap are needed for these kits because of a generous and prolific donation made to Decatur First.

Toothpaste is no longer collected for these kits. It often expires before the kits can be distributed. UMCOR purchases toothpaste in bulk to be added to each kit.

If you prefer you may contribute cash for the purchase of supplies for the kits. Please make your check payable to DFUMC and mark it Health Kits.

If you would like to volunteer to assist in the purchase of supplies, to assemble the kits or to deliver the kits to the warehouse, please contact Fletcher Daley, Mission Action Team Chair at 404-286-2456 or fletcher-29@comcast.net.
